He is faithful to complete + I will serve the Lord

The Promise (Art by Nino Herandez inspired by Deuteronomy 8:7-9)

I attended two Sunday services. Word International in the morning and Word for the World in the afternoon.

The first service I attended (which is the church I regularly I go to) had the message shared by brother Milo. He talked about his life verse which is from Philippians 1:6

being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

The takeaways I learned was:

  • God is unlimited. He has unlimited patience, unlimited faith in you, and unlimited resources to help you finish the race
  • God never gives up on you. He is there when you need him. We may stumble and fall, but He is always there to pick you up!
  • Nothing in the world can make you happy. You may go earn the status or the pay check or marry the partner of your dreams but after all that, it doesn’t secure happiness. Only God can make you happy
  • There is no deadline with God. He doesn’t ask you to be this person in a given time. Things will fall into place in His time.
  • When God starts something, He will finish it.

On the second service I attended, I was with my sisters and my brother in law shared the message about Decisive Moments. Verses came from Joshua 24 with key verses from 14 and 15.

14 “Now fear the LORD and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD. 15 But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”

Key points I took from the sermon:
Choose for yourselves who you will serve.
You can either conform with the world, relive your past, replay in your head how things “may” end up but do the same thing, have certain “conditions” to get you to do things.
Choose God, and He will bless you, even if you don’t know what’s ahead.

Being human, we are comfortable only with the familiar. We wish to do something new only if we know how it ends. We ask for "signs" if we should do this or that. We repeat the same actions wishing there will be different results. We prioritize other things, emotions, and all sorts of adjectives and nouns you can think of in our heart.  There will be times of trials where our faith will be shaken (and stirred). But how will you know if you do not let go and let God do His work?

In verse 31 of Joshua 24, God was faithful. He always is. In chapter 24, you will notice one thing missing: God did not count the mistakes of the Israelites nor their shortcomings. Only the blessings were shown.

Amazing grace indeed.

He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it. And as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

God bless folks!
